The 10th London Tech Week will be opened by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan on Monday morning.
Taking place at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in London, approximately 30,000 delegates are predicted to be in attendance throughout the week.
“As the tectonic plates of technology are shifting, it’s more important than ever that we build on our existing strengths and make the UK the best country in the world to start, grow, and invest in tech businesses,” Sunak said.
During the opening keynote of London Tech Week, the prime minister will host a fireside chat with Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis.
“It’s my goal to create the right conditions for tech companies to thrive here – this island of innovation – which will help grow the economy, create jobs and ultimately, improve lives,” Sunak added.
It comes as data released by London & Partners ahead of the event show that the UK capital attracted the most tech investment globally over the last 10 years.
“Over the past decade, our tech sector has grown to become an international success story, creating jobs and economic growth for all Londoners,” said Khan. “This is highlighted by these new figures showing London remains a top destination for the very best international tech businesses.”
Flickr co-founder Caterina Fake, Gordon Sanghera founder of Oxford Nanopore, Beamery’s CEO Abakar Saidov and founder of Multiverse Euan Blair are among the speakers at this year’s event.
