Employee fitness app GoJoe, backed by former Manchester United player Michael Carrick, has secured an investment of £2.4m.
Founded in 2018, GoJoe aims to cater to both consumers and businesses and is looking to replace traditional workplace wellness programmes.
The startup, which last year raised £1.2m, links to wearable tech to capture more activities than step counting. Its in-app features and functions include gamified virtual team-based challenges, a weighted points system across 50 different activities, and live tracker maps.
It also provides employee assistance programmes and health insurance with firms such as NatWest, EY, Amazon and Centrica already taking advantage of the all-in-one app.
The funding round was led by Revolut and Just Eat investor Venrex Partners. Additional participation in the round came from Amrock Ventures and Hellen’s Rock Ventures.
This new investment will help expand its resources and widen its reach in supporting businesses in the health and fitness challenges they face in the modern workplace.
“We’re thrilled to be involved with GoJoe at the intersection of the sports and consumer sectors,” said Venrex’s Alistair Russell.
“We’re particularly excited to leverage our experience from investments in other successful consumer and sports-related startups. The team embodies many of the characteristics of the most successful founders we’ve partnered with at Venrex,” he added.
