Napjainkban egyre többen használnak édesítőszert a cukor helyett, azonban sorra derül ki ezekről, hogy nem csak jótékony hatásuk van. Azután, hogy az aszpartámról tavaly kiderült, hogy rákkeltő, most a xilit tesztelése során jöttek rá, hogy csaknem megkétszerezi a szívroham, és a stroke, valamint az ezekkel kapcsolatos halálozás kockázatát, ha valaki nagy mennyiségben viszi be a szervezetébe, írja a CNN.
A kutatók 1157, épp szívvizsgálatok átesett ember vérmintáját elemzték, de emellett még 2100 olyan személytől is vettek mintát, akiknél nagyobb lehet a szívbetegségek kockázata. Az European Heart Journalben publikált kutatás szerint
az alacsony dózisú fogyasztásához mérten azok, akik nagy mértékben fogyasztották a xilitet, megkétszereződött a szívroham és a stroke kockázata.
Stanley Hazen, a tanulmány vezető szerzője, a Cleveland Clinic szív- és érrendszeri diagnosztikai és megelőzési központjának igazgatója elmondta: amikor egészséges önkénteseknek adtak olyan italt, amiben xilit volt, rövid időn belül arra lettek figyelmesek, hogy a vér glükózszintje az ezerszeresére emelkedett. Hozzávetőlegesen: a cukortartalmú üdítőknél 10-20 százalékos emelkedés mondható átlagnak.
Érdekesség, hogy ez a kutatócsoport mutatott rá 2023-ban az eritrit veszélyeire is. Mind ez, mind pedig a xilit a vérlemezkék könnyebb alvadását okozhatják, ezáltal rögöket képezve. Amennyiben ezek a rögök szétesnek, a vérárammal eljuthatnak a szívbe, és ott szívrohamot okozhatnak. Az agyba jutva pedig a stroke kialakulásának kockázatát növelik. Ami meglepő, hogy kis mennyiség fogyasztásakor is megváltozik a vérlemezkék viselkedése.
