A szervezet március óta vizsgálhatta a gyakorlatot.
Ezt egyébként több európai tagállam adatvédelmi szervezete is kifogásolta, és most úgy néz ki, a DMA miatt a Meta kénytelen lesz megalkudni.
A Bizottság azt állítja, a platform megköveteli a felhasználóktól, hogy beleegyezzenek a tevékenységüket megfigyelő hirdetésekbe – lényegében ez a közösségi háló használatának „belépési ára”.
A Metára és más úgynevezett kapuőrök tevékenységére nagy hatással lehet a március 7-e óta érvényben lévő piaci szabályozás. A jogsértésekért kiszabható szankciók elérhetik a globális éves forgalom 10 százalékát, ismétlődő jogsértések esetén pedig akár a 20 százalékát is.
