Newcastle sports streaming app Screach pockets £1.4M for global expansion

Newcastle-based Screach is a sports streaming platform that lets venues stream live sports events for their customers. In a recent development, the company pocketed $2 million (nearly £1.4 million) funding.

Intends to launch globally

The investment came from several high net worth individuals along with Hotspur Capital and the British Business Bank’s Future Fund. The sports streaming app will use the funds to roll out the platform internationally. Already, the app is available for download in 157 countries.

Robert Rawlinson, CEO of Screenreach, said: “The streaming revolution has left few corners of the consumer market untouched – with millions of people around the world embracing the ease and abundance of content available on countless new streaming services. But as commercial venues reopen, the Screach platform offers a frictionless way for sports rights owners to extend their reach into the globally underserved enterprise market.”

He added, “We’re in advanced discussions with a string of international broadcasters and top tier sport rights holders. We expect to announce several exciting partnerships in the coming months, that will all lead to the delivery of live sports content to commercial venues via our next generation streaming and advertising platform.”

Cloud-based sports app

The Screach app can be downloaded by customers for free. It provides a free marketing and advertising channel to the venue that includes programmable digital signage and revenue-generating third-party averts. The venue can use a single log-in to buy any sports subscription or pay-per-view event that they prefer.

The cloud-based app aggregates live sports content from the user’s home country into a single place. It lets bars, cafés, hotels, and gyms stream the event via the Screach smart TV app. With the use of technology, sports rights owners can sell their subscriptions directly to customers sans relying on conventional satellite and cable companies.
