Scottish startup backed by Innovate UK wants to simplify remote staff hiring, targets £1M funding

The future of talent acquisition is going to be digital! It has evolved a lot in the past decade. As business gets more dynamic & complex, the demand for talents is sky-rocketing.

Now a lot of organisations are focusing on finding, developing, and keeping highly talented people in their teams and organisations. But locating is a cumbersome process on its own. Here’s where the Glasgow-based startup Gigged AI comes into play.

Meet Gigged AI!

Gigged AI is a digital sourcing platform that brings top talent and clients together. To make talent sourcing even easier, the company has launched a new platform to help companies hire top UK digital talent faster as remote working trends continue.

The company aims to capitalise on the remote working trend through its conversational AI technology.

Gigged.AI CEO and co-founder Rich Wilson, formerly a senior executive with Gartner and a current board member with The Data Lab, said: “After a decade spent in leadership roles in HR and staffing, I knew technology could vastly improve the on-boarding of on-demand talent. The whole dynamic has shifted even further since the pandemic, and we’ve been able to take our vision through to market entry because of the hard work of our chief technology officer Craig Short and his team. With as much as 90 percent of work being done remotely, we’re already helping clients find the best digital talent much faster than ever before”

Simplifying staff sourcing

Founded by Rich Wilson and Craig Short in 2020, Gigged.AI aims to take on a big player in the market that McKinsey estimates will total $2.7 trillion by 2025.

The UK company has developed unique algorithms that minimise the geographical bias to match relevant on-demand talent to a specific work. It’s worth mentioning that, the company reduces onboarding time by six weeks, enabling projects to deliver faster and within budget.

Secured fund from Innovate UK

The company secured £95K funding from Innovate UK’s Sustainable Innovation Fund after receiving help from the Data Lab to strengthen its application. Further, the company also received a top rating from Innovate UK against over 1,500 other projects.

Notable appointments

In March, John Brodie was appointed as Gigged.AI’s Non-executive Chairman and the company is now targeting an investment round of up to £1 million to support ongoing product development, grow its team and open an office in London.

Notably, Brodie founded Aquila Insight in 2012, building the data analytics specialist ahead of the acquisition by US marketing agency Merkle in 2017.

John Brodie, Chairman of Gigged.AI, said: “The future of work and the gig economy are hot topics right now and Gigged.AI is an innovative product with huge growth potential. The team has achieved a lot in a short space of time, and I’m excited to help support Rich, Craig, and the team through their next phase of growth.”

In January, Angela Brown, formerly finance director at Symphonic Software, acquired by Ping in November 2020, was appointed as Gigged.AI’s CFO.

International talent marketplace

The company is planning to hire ten additional people on board before the end of the year. On top of that, Gigged.AI is planning to launch an internal talent marketplace product for larger enterprises by the beginning of 2022.

Rich Wilson added: “Overall, our vision is to accelerate the future of work to ensure clients and on-demand talent have a simple and effective way to connect and work together in a post-Covid 19 economy that has changed monumentally over the last fifteen months.”
