SME payment firm SimplyPayMe banks £3m in funding

Global payment firm SimplyPayMe has secured nearly $4m (£3m) in funding, led by angel investor Tom Brudenell-Bruce.

London-based SimplyPayMe will use the funding to “capitalise on existing and new opportunities in Europe and North America”.

SimplyPayMe provides technology for retailers to process in-person card payments using a smartphone scanner, along with a payment app to send invoices via text.

It also provides options for companies to accept online payments and payments over the phone.

SimplyPayMe offers its product through partnerships with Paysafe in the US and DNA Payments in the UK. It generates revenue by charging transaction fees.

SimplyPayMe CEO, Kent Vorland, said: “2021 was a strong year for SimplyPayMe and we have already managed to hit the ground running in 2022 with new and important partnerships, and with the continued support of our shareholders, we’re looking forward to diversifying the services/tools we offer our customers.”

SimplyPayMe was founded in 2012. Its funding round follows a bumper year for UK fintech investment, with companies raising $11.6bn in capital.

“I see huge potential in SimplyPayMe, their achievements over the past year speak for themselves and instil confidence in not only the team at SimplyPayMe, but in their vision. The SME business management and payments space is one that SimplyPayMe is conquering and making a name for themselves within,” said Brudenell-Bruce.
