Digital Catapult and Nvidia reveal West England tech cohort

Digital Catapult has begun working with tech giant Nvidia on a creative tech firm challenge in the West of England.

Nvidia and Digital Catapult will fund selected companies on the initiative with a maximum of £50,000 to develop a prototype or innovate on prior work.

Dr Jeremy Silver, CEO, Digital Catapult said: “This new MyWorld cohort is tackling a multitude of the most pressing challenges and opportunities currently facing the sector. The UK’s creative industries lead the world, and the South West has some of the best creative minds in the country.”

Areas of focus for the 16-week programme are how virtual words, simulation and digital twins can be of service to the UK’s creative sector.

The West of England tech businesses on the cohort are

  • Lux Aeterna, Bristol
  • Black Laboratory, Bristol
  • Force of Habit, Bristol
  • Meaning Machine, Bristol
  • Zubr and Uninvited Guests, Bristol
  • GroundWaves, Bristol
  • Anagram, Bristol
  • Larkhall, Bath
  • Motion Impossible, South Gloucestershire

The Nvidia and Digital Catapult challenge is underpinned by UKRI funding and managed by the University of Bristol.

“Connectivity and collaboration are critical in the creative sector, and NVIDIA technologies enable the cohort to approach the challenge in unique ways,” said Jamie Allan, Media, Entertainment & Broadcast Industry Lead EMEA, Nvidia.

It comes as the software and hardware giant Nvidia this week hit a valuation of $1trn.
